It is important to note that many medications are metabolized by CYP2D6 and patients with SCD are associated with low enzymatic activity. It is recommended against using codeine, a prodrug for morphine in SCD [42,43]. Here, CYP2D6 is linked to Schnyder corneal dystrophy.
