Indeed, although our metric agrees with risk prediction from the Mendelian randomization study conducted by Burgess et al., the authors also showed that a 10 mg/dL genetically determined reduction in Lp(a) level was associated with a 5.8% CHD risk reduction, whereas a 14.5% CHD risk reduction was observed with a 10 mg/dL genetically determined reduction in LDL-C [8].
