Over the last decade, the management of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has undergone many changes; for example, a number of new antidiabetic drugs (ADs, including SGLT-2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and DPP-4 inhibitors) have been approved as first-line treatments (either as monotherapies or in combination with other drugs) [1–5]. The gene discussed is DPP4; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
