Notably, the upregulation of genes enriched in terpenoid backbone biosynthesis, i.e., hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase (NADPH) (HMGCR), ditrans,polycis-polyprenyl diphosphate synthase (GA2ox), and geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase (GGPS), suggests that growing corn in BC may increase terpenoid backbone biosynthesis by upregulating these genes. Here, GGPS1 is linked to breast cancer.
