Patients with AF recurrence had higher visfatin levels (1.7 ± 2.4 vs. 2.1 ± 1.9 ng/mL; p < 0.0001) and multivariate logistic regression analysis containing age, sex, and other independent variables showed that patients with elevated visfatin levels were almost three times more likely to experience AF recurrence (odds ratio 2.92; 95% confidence interval 1.60 to 5.32). This evidence concerns the gene NAMPT and atrial fibrillation.
