To improve accuracy in the detection of HCC, the GALAD model, a triple biomarker model that combines gender, age, and the levels of three serologic biomarkers: AFP, Lens culinaris agglutinin-reactive fraction of AFP (AFP-L3%), and DCP, has been studied and subsequently validated in Europe, Asia, and the United States of America (15–19). The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
