[7] Currently, pyroptosis mediated by gasdermins (GSDMs) is involved in kidney diseases characterized by NOD‐like receptor thermal protein domain‐associated protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, membrane pore formation, and cytokine release.[8] Suppressing NLRP3‐mediated pyroptosis can ameliorate acute kidney injury, whereas NLRP3 inflammasome activation promotes diabetic kidney progression.[9] Based on the above evidence, we hypothesized that autophagy and pyroptosis may be critically involved in PM2.5‐induced kidney injury. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and kidney injury.
