The largest subunit of RNA polymerase II, POLR2A, also known as RPB1, has recently been linked to AD by Dickson et al. Using an AD transgenic mouse model, this group demonstrated the mislocalization of this protein from the nucleus to the cytoplasm in a tau-and age-dependent manner (Dickson et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene POLR2A and Alzheimer disease.
