GFAP and Alexander disease: Previously, these models were shown to recapitulate some neuropathological hallmarks of AxD including RFs (Battaglia et al., 2019; Canals et al., 2018; Jones et al., 2018; Kondo et al., 2016; Li, Tian, et al., 2018), revealed abnormal organelle morphology and distribution (Jones et al., 2018), shed some light on the impact of AxD astrocytes on oligodendrocytes (Li, Tian, et al., 2018), and suggested a role of GFAP hyperphosphorylation in AxD pathology (Battaglia et al., 2019).
