CASP1 and atherosclerosis: Pyroptosis has been a treatment target for atherosclerosis, as exemplified by the candidate molecule salvianolic acid A in diabetic atherosclerosis.442 Typically, apigenin, lncRNA H19, organogermanium compound 3-(trihydroxygermyl) propanoic acid (THGP), and Z-LLSD-FMK or Z-YVAD-FMK improve atherosclerosis by targeting NF-κB, caspase-1, caspase-1, and GSDMD, respectively.443–446 However, some molecules regulate pyroptosis through distinct targets.
