ALOX12 and Alzheimer disease: WFDC12 might be involved in the development of AD in three ways: 1) Overexpression of specific WFDC12 in the epidermis promotes the migration of mAPCs from the skin to the lymph nodes to accelerate the differentiation of Th cells and enhancing the epidermal immune-inflammatory response; 2) Keratinocyte-specific overexpression of WFDC12 may upregulate the expression of ALOX12 and ALOX15, activating the lipoxygenase ALOX12/15 pathway in the epidermal arachidonic acid(AA) metabolism pathway, and promotes the accumulation of the inflammatory mediators of AA metabolite 12-HETE and 15-HETE.
