Huang et al. (2022) found that FTO knockdown significantly promoted glycolytic metabolism and proliferation of papillary thyroid cancer cells, whereas FTO overexpression inhibited glycolysis and proliferation of papillary thyroid cancer cells. Yang et al. (2019) reported that inhibition of FTO expression substantially suppressed melanoma growth, whereas FTO overexpression notably facilitated melanoma growth. Additionally, Zhou et al. (2021) reported that FTO overexpression promoted bladder cancer cell proliferation, whereas FTO downregulation inhibited bladder cancer cell proliferation. Here, FTO is linked to urinary bladder carcinoma.
