Starhof et al. found that cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) C-reactive protein (CRP), TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β levels in MSA patients were significantly higher than those in PD patients, and these cytokines have good diagnostic value in distinguishing MSA from PD (AUC 0.77, p = 0.007, 95% CI 0.660–0.867) (Starhof et al., 2018). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is Parkinson disease.
