MAPT and Alzheimer disease: The pathological core features of AD, including the extracellular deposition of Aβ and the intraneuronal presence of aggregated hyperphosphorylated tau proteins,11 as well as various non‐specific features of neuroinflammation and synaptic dysfunction, can all be quantified using cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or PET analysis, and their levels are significantly correlated with cognitive ability.12
