It is well known that obesity leads to numerous pregnancy pathologies, such as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), preeclampsia (PE), or gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and the plasma levels of visfatin are higher in these pregnancy pathologies than in healthy pregnant women [15–17] however, data on the expression and immunolocalization of visfatin in human placenta cells are limited.
