SRC and stroke disorder: Anin vitro study using cultured HT4 hippocampal nerve cells found that, unlike α-Tph, even the nanomolar concentration of α-T3 could suppress the early activation of glutamate-induced c-Src (cellular Src) kinase, by especially blocking glutamate-induced death and thereby saving the neurons.55 Complementing this discovery, another research proved that T3 acts as an important checkpoint to protect against neurodegeneration caused by glutamate-induced cell death and stroke.56
