NRGN and amyloidosis: Few studies have previously reported evidence on PVS, showing that higher burden of PVS in CS and BG was associated with higher levels of P-tau181, total tau, and neurogranin (a biomarker of synaptic degeneration) in amyloid-positive individuals.4 Another study used premortem and postmortem MRI to show increased amyloid accumulation in vessels with enlarged PVS.32 These results suggest that dysregulation of PVS function might result in impaired clearance mechanisms and facilitate amyloid deposition.
