Most of the published studies regarding Mir483 are related to cancer, with the majority of the reports classifying MIR483 (human nomenclature14) as an onco-miR,17,18 though some studies provide evidence for an oncosuppressor action in certain contexts.19,20Mir483 has been associated with a number of biological processes, such as cellular differentiation,21 proliferation,22 survival,23 melatonin synthesis,24 insulin production,25,26 and vascular homeostasis.27 Importantly, Mir483 has been shown to be regulated by environmental cues such as diet28 and temperature.29 Here, MIR483 is linked to cancer.
