Another cross-sectional study (in 1618 Asian Indians) reported a significant interaction between the FTO SNP rs8050136 and carbohydrate energy intake (%) on obesity risk, where individuals carrying the “A” allele had a 2.46-fold higher risk of obesity compared with the “CC” genotype among individuals in the highest tertile of carbohydrate intake (71% energy).25 This evidence concerns the gene FTO and obesity disorder.
