To interrogate this, we first examined existing chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) sequencing data taken from the chronic myeloid leukaemia K562 cell line, and observed RUNX1 binding at the STING promoter region (Extended Data Fig. 6d), associated with a 5’-YGYGGTY-3’ RUNX consensus motif at the 5’-end of the gene63,64.
