In a sepsis related ALI murine model, created via CLP, markers of oxidative stress and ferroptosis were notably altered, with heightened NLRP3 expression, malondialdehyde, ROS levels, 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (4-HNE) proteins, and iron accumulation observed alongside a notable reduction in GPX4 expression (Cao et al., 2022). Here, GPX4 is linked to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
