There are factors associated with the transition from MHO to MUO, indicating decreased insulin sensitivity and increased fasting glucose [58], correlating with what was identified in Network D. The risk of developing type 2 diabetes is much lower in those with MHO than in those with MUO [59] and is directly related to the number of metabolic abnormalities at baseline [60], also showing a relationship with what is described in Table 2. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
