Taking into account that both compounds did not exhibit significant inhibitory activity on the expression of the Hh signaling pathway genes, it can be assumed that the effect of compounds 3 and 4 on the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in A-549 cells was mediated by their interaction with other signaling pathways and molecules; in the A-549 cell line, gene expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 depended on the activation of the FAK-ERK signaling pathway [34], and in non-small cell lung cancer, it was stimulated by interleukin IL-17A/IL-17RA through the p38 MAPK signaling pathway [35]. The gene discussed is MMP9; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
