Our study finds a male predominance in the EoE patients, similar to the international literature [9,10], one of the explanations being that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) gene and nonsynonymous SNPs in the TSLP receptor may be associated with EoE in male patients only [11]. This evidence concerns the gene TSLP and eosinophilic esophagitis.
