In conclusion, this study demonstrated for the first time that GPR40/GPR120 agonist GW9508 reduced alveolar bone loss and alleviated periodontal inflammation in mice with MetS-exacerbated periodontitis, suggesting that activating GPR40/GPR120 with agonist GW9508 is a potential anti-inflammatory approach for the treatment of MetS-associated periodontitis. This evidence concerns the gene FFAR4 and periodontitis.
