Whether MT preferential upregulation of EGR2 in patients with an ME/CFS status relates to increased EGR2 basal levels in these patients (as shown in Figure 6), coinciding with Dr. Kerr’s previous findings [50,51], and whether this relates to EBV infection history of the patient, seems like a possibility to be further explored. The gene discussed is EGR2; the disease is myalgic encephalomeyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome.
