CD147 is a potent inducer of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase (EMMPRIN) that plays a key role in the regulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling during physiological and pathological processes, such as wound healing, fibrotic and inflammatory-related diseases [13,21,22], and cancer, including hematological neoplasia, such as AML and multiple myeloma, in myelodysplastic syndrome with a 5q deletion, where CD147 expression levels have a prognostic value [13,14,16,17,18,19,20]. This evidence concerns the gene BSG and AL amyloidosis.
