Examination of the phenotypic effects of K8 and K18a.1 MO knockdown at 48 hpf revealed that compared with uninjected and control-injected embryos (Figure 3A,B), MO-injected embryos exhibited coloboma (arrowhead, Figure 3C) and unusually small (asterisk, Figure 3C) or severely underdeveloped (asterisk, Figure 3D) eyes as well as acutely delayed jaw (red arrow) and pharyngeal arch (orange arrow) development (Figure 3C,D). This evidence concerns the gene KRT8 and coloboma.
