Idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN or primary membranous nephropathy or PMN) is an autoimmune kidney disease where autoantibodies target specific proteins on podocytes, such as the phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R), thrombospondin type 1 domain containing 7A (THSD7A), and neural epidermal growth factor-like 1 (NELL-1) [134,135,136]. This evidence concerns the gene NELL1 and idiopathic membranous glomerulonephritis.
