Idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN or primary membranous nephropathy or PMN) is an autoimmune kidney disease where autoantibodies target specific proteins on podocytes, such as the phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R), thrombospondin type 1 domain containing 7A (THSD7A), and neural epidermal growth factor-like 1 (NELL-1) [134,135,136]. Here, THSD7A is linked to idiopathic membranous glomerulonephritis.
