In future studies, it will be important to monitor the levels of ST6GAL1 and sialylated glycans in clinical samples from prostate cancer patients with tumours that have become resistant to enzalutamide therapy and investigate whether the detection of ST6GAL1 and/or aberrant sialylation in prostate tumours could be used to predict sensitivity and resistance to treatment strategies. The gene discussed is ST6GAL1; the disease is prostate cancer.
