Among dogs with heart disease, animals with MMVD had a higher mean serum concentration of Gal-3 (4.61 ± 1.52 ng/mL) compared to that of dogs with DCM (2.75 ± 1.01 ng/mL, p = 0.000) (Figure 2). The gene discussed is LGALS3; the disease is familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
