Moreover, by using confocal microscopy, we found that the endothelial (visualised by CD31 expression) and medial (using autofluorescence to visualise the elastic fibres of the media) layers separate during CAWS-induced vasculitis, due to thickening of the intima (Fig. EV1A,B), similar to what has been found in human KD (Orenstein et al, 2012; Checchia et al, 1997; Friedman et al, 2016). The gene discussed is PECAM1; the disease is vasculitis.
