Furthermore, we found a non-statistically significant weak positive correlation between HbA1c and the lactate/bicarbonate ratio (r = 0.5, p = 0.08) (Supplementary Fig. 6), but no correlation between metabolite ratios and age, body mass index (BMI), LV mass, N-terminal pro-hormone brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), New York Heart Association (NYHA) class or dose of HF medication and etiology of HF (IHD versus DCM) (Supplementary Data).
