IRS1 and Insulin resistance: In mouse insulin resistance, it has been shown that a hepatic selective insulin resistance is due to an imbalance of Irs1 and Irs2 expression; while Irs2 is downregulated and insulin‐mediated suppression of gluconeogenesis is impaired, Irs1 is overexpressed and an uncontrolled increase in hepatic lipogenesis persists (Kubota et al., 2017).
