Based on their polarization status, two populations of tumor-associated neutrophils (TANs) have been identified: N1 neutrophils with a short lifespan and mature phenotype, exhibiting anti-tumor ability through increased production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), intercellular adhesion molecule, reactive oxygen species (ROS), CD95, as well as downregulation of arginase expression.
