Hsu and colleagues further demonstrated that BP180 is required for survival and maintenance of lung cancer stem cells: the authors described that cancer stem cells increase glycolysis by the Oct4-hexokinase 2 pathway which is activated by the FAK-PI3K/AKT-GSK3β/β-catenin signaling, induced by the BP180-laminin-332 pathway (54). This evidence concerns the gene COL17A1 and lung carcinoma.
