Antibodies that engage c1q and target ICAM-1-binding group A DBLβmotif and group B DBLβ domains were higher in children with uncomplicated malaria compared to cerebral malaria (Welch’s t-test p value 0.032 and 0.024, respectively) whereas antibodies targeting group A non-ICAM-1 binding DBLβ domains did not differ significantly between the two clinical groups. The gene discussed is ICAM1; the disease is malaria.
