Fifteen studies displayed that patients with NAFLD (n = 3479) had a lower osteocalcin level than the control group (SMD = −0.69, 95% CI: −0.73–−0.64, and P=0.002; I2 = 99%) as compared to non-NAFLD individuals (n = 8638; Figure 2(a)). This evidence concerns the gene BGLAP and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
