Rosa et al. showed that the hydroethanolic leaf extract from this subaquatic herbaceous Brazillian native reduces inflammation in OVA-induced allergic asthma through decreasing BALF IL-13, IL-5, IL-4, and IgE at concentrations of 1, 5, and 30 mg/kg, which is comparable with dexamethasone (0.5 mg/kg) [188]. Here, IL13 is linked to allergic asthma.
