Expressing either TauWT or TauR406W in all neurons, using elav-GAL4 or in photoreceptors using GMR-Gal4, recapitulate several salient features of AD pathology including the adult-onset, progressive neurodegeneration with altered lifespan and accumulation of hyperphosphorylated Tau (pTau) (8, 23). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
