In injury model such as pulmonary IR injury, pulmonary hypertension, VILI, smoking-induced injury, endotoxemia model, and hemorrhagic shock, therapeutic hypothermia has been reported to suppress lung injury by modulating inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) production, endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) production, neutrophil activation, or adhesion molecule expression [79–86]. This evidence concerns the gene NOS3 and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
