The observation that there is a highly significant (p<0.01) decrease specifically in CD8+ T cell infiltration within the papillomas arising in WHIM mice compared to in WT mice, but a much lesser difference for other immune cell types, raises the possibility that this deficit, in particular, is contributing to the higher incidence of papillomatosis and faster wart growth in WHIM mice. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is papilloma.
