In randomized clinical trials of GLP-1 receptor agonists, increases in suicidality, depression, anxiety, and other adverse mental health outcomes have not been observed.27,28 However, many trials excluded those at highest risk of suicidality through exclusion criteria or based on investigators’ judgment such that uncertainty remained regarding the generalizability of the findings to broader patient groups, and the statistical power was low due to few events. This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and depressive symptom measurement.
