Studies have shown that ROS-induced cofilin oxidation can induce oxidative stress in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes (Alhadidi et al., 2016), and the oxidative stress-induced increase in cofilin dephosphorylation is linked to the accumulation of tau tangles and amyloid beta plaques in Alzheimer's disease (Namme et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene CFL1 and hemorrhagic stroke.
