XCR1 and colitis: It is possible that under a healthy state there is minimal effect on the gut microbiota due to lack of XCR1, but that this impact may be increased when the gut environment is subjected to perturbations, as mice that are deficient in XCR1+ cDCs do not exhibit dysregulated gut inflammation during a steady-state but are more susceptible to chemically induced colitis [9, 14].
