IREB2 and periodontal disorder: The percentages of global expression of irp-2 (61%) and iroN (35%) detected in E. coli strains isolated from patients with periodontal disease are very similar to those described by our group working on cervico-vaginal pathogenic E. coli strains (n = 200), where the prevalence of irp-2 was 58.5% and that of iroN was 32.5% (Monroy-Pérez et al., 2020).
