ST8SIA6 and hepatocellular carcinoma: Research has consistently shown that ST8SIA6-AS1 is upregulated in HCC tissues as compared to normal liver tissues (Fei et al., 2020; Li and Jiang, 2020; Zhang et al., 2020; Zhang B. et al., 2021; Zhang Y. et al., 2021; Kuai et al., 2021; Luo et al., 2022), and this upregulation is significantly associated with more aggressive disease characteristics (Fei et al., 2020; Zhang B. et al., 2021; Feng et al., 2023), such as higher histological grades, advanced TNM stages, and increased vein invasion (Table 2), all of which contribute to a poorer prognosis.
