The reduced phosphorylation/activation of ERK1/2 in the presence of lower TRAP1 levels also occurred in parallel with the increase of PGC1-α expression and this is consistent with published studies which described an inverse correlation between ERK1/2 phosphorylation status and PGC1-α levels in mouse fibroblast [32] and in physiological and pathological conditions as kidney injury [29]. The gene discussed is PPARGC1A; the disease is kidney injury.
