Interestingly, a recent Mendelian randomization study using genome-wide association data from a population of European descent showed that high expression of the HMGCR gene, which encodes HMG-CoA reductase, correlates with a 1.55 times higher risk of migraines (95% CI 1.30–1.84) [15]. This evidence concerns the gene HMGCR and migraine disorder.
