Consistent with previous reports on the proapoptotic effects of RA in other cancer types [15,16], we observed that RA in combination with cisplatin triggered apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells, as evidenced by the activation of caspases and the proapoptotic protein Bax, along with downregulation of the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2. Here, BCL2 is linked to colorectal cancer.
